Closer....

There's not much left to do. The painting is complete. Not as white as I originally thought lol as that was the undercoat. The actual colour is alabaster. A creamy white. With gloss white for all the doors, skirting and architraves. Looks fresh.

Shoulder is better but not good. Still off work. Thankfully I'm driving again this week.

An issue has developed as we are lacking a water meter on the land. Hopefully this will all be resolved quickly as we are hoping to move in very soon.  Have paid the council!! No shortage of things to pay at the moment.  Have also been furniture shopping. Now the living room and my retreat area will have furnishings. Can't wait to buy lamps and things. I've also ordered window furnishings for most of the windows, although they won't be ready in time.

Am so in love with our floors. Have never chosen floor coverings before for a whole house. It looks sensational. This is the vynl that looks like wood, it's amazing and feels beautiful underfoot. Much nicer than tiles or slate.

The drive way, alfresco and washing line areas are done.

We are getting close.....

The progress that we've had over the last couple of weeks is incredible. We move into our new home in just over three weeks time. I'm so pleased as I'm on leave at the time, which was fortuitous and planned last year when I thought we'd be going on another cruise. Neither Peter or I would have believed that we'd be moving into our new home then instead.  Unfortunately I've hurt my shoulder at work and have had time off. While the house is progressing well, Bonney St has sold and we are no longer under stress with fixing up here, I am extremely frustrated and in pain.  I'm not able to pack or do what I'm supposed to be doing at the moment...... Ah well things will no doubt all work out. My bossy and organising genes are not enjoying this level of helplessness.

On Friday we went to IKEA and we bought lots of bits and pieces. My arm was quite sore, so Billy-Joe did the driving. We took Peter's ute down which was pretty full of the iconic flat pack boxes. Billy-Joe bought his bedroom and a lovely double mattress, I bought a few small things, bathroom mats, the rubber stuff for the bottom of my kitchen drawers, a fake plant and also a cheap chest of drawers to put into my walk in Robe.

The painter was at the house yesterday. Am so happy with he colour I've picked for inside. It's virtually white. I have a white thing happening! Thank goodness I love colour as I can go crazy with colour for everything else. I need to buy so much furniture as at this stage rooms will be empty.  I have heaps of storage space, complete with my own 'Harry Potter room'. I'm so grateful to Amrock and specifically to Carmen Percy who designed our home to my specifications......  It's just perfect.

More progress, inside and out.

The last couple of weeks have seen loads of progress. The gyprock is up inside. I thought that when the walls went up the house would 'shrink', but the opposite has happened. I'm so happy with how big this house is. We are not going to know ourselves. I'll have to put GPSs on my kids to know where they are.The cornices are almost done and the bricks are currently being laid.

A Roof.......

This week has seen the trusses erected, a roof half on and the arrival of our windows.  So awesome to walk through the house now and imagine living in it.

Watching it evolve.....

Thankfully the rain only delayed the pouring of the slab by four days. I was very surprised as the ground was sodden and I wasn't sure they'd get their machinery onto the block. John the builder put more gravel down to help the tradies access the block.

Five days after the slab was poured, much of the frame has been erected.

Slowly, slowly.......

Not much has happened since the last post.  The rain has delayed things for a week.  The weekend saw torrential rain, after a week of showers.

The slab will be poured on Friday 24 June.  Plumbing and so forth is being done beforehand.  A couple of photos to catch up.

 After the rain
At least there's a loo now.

And so it begins .................

For the last four months, much discussion, planning, deliberating and drinking of wine has taken place.

It began, by attending an open house.  Surely, I thought, we just may be able to buy a bigger home, to fit our growing family into. It's obvious that in this day and age, kids aren't moving out in a hurry, and we have outgrown our little home. I've long dreamed, how wonderful a nicer home would be. One that had room in for everyone and where one didn't become annoyed by the noise of the other because we are always all in close  proximity of each other.

From looking at homes for sale, it quickly became obvious that we wouldn't be able to afford to buy an existing home with all of our 'wants and needs'.

So then we decided to build. From looking at a gorgeous block of land at the end of our room, to finally buying one in a nearby suburb. We are landowners, who now have the beginnings of a home upon it. Well.......dirt has been moved around and issues have surfaced, so something has begun!!
